Coaching for Carers
Our coaching for carers programme covers 5 key elements, which make it both unique and one of the first services to cover both the practical and holistic needs of a carer.
We know having nursed loved ones ourselves how frightening the diagnosis Dementia can be. In an instant your world changes and learning to manage the condition and all the practicalities can just be too emotionally draining.
This programme has been designed from a team with over 15 years’ experience in dementia care. It has been developed to ensure that not only are your needs covered but that of your loved one. The outcome is that your journey is no longer a lonely one and you can spend those precious years in a more informed and secure place.
Coaching Session
Monthly one to one wellbeing session – Online or face to face.
This will centre around coping mechanisms and explore situational challenges.
The outcome is to create a resilience and strategy to enable a sense of wellbeing and plan of action.
Wellbeing Check and relaxation programme
Our team will call to check in during the programme to ensure you are ok and coping.
Our relaxation programme is incorporated to use between sessions. It is the aim that the tools we provide will become part of your daily life to ensure you create some personal much-needed time and space. A carer so often forgets their own mental and physical health and this programme centres on the importance of this.
Telephone Support
A dedicated number is assigned to you during the programme to enable you to contact us with any concerns and/or help needed.
Advice clinic
Our carers clinic offers practical help and support for Dementia care. Covering areas such as benefit support, resources available, local care support (set up with Local Authorities). The aim of our clinic is to ensure you have all the resources to take care of your loved one.
Support network
Building on this programme our support network was set up to provide an outlet to share feelings and tips to fellow carers. Dementia care is challenging and rewarding. Coming to terms with new behaviours and transitioning through the stages in dementia can be incredibly stressful and isolating. Our network creates a family, a place where you are not alone and can share those feelings in a safe, compassionate, and understanding place.
